Artist Biography
Dara’s paintings radiate with shimmering light. Her luminous and colorful palette ranges from soft blues and pinks to deep purples. Inspired by nature and beauty, she has painted a series of acrylic paintings. Motivated by long walks on beaches and hikes in the New England woods, Dara captures the essence and beauty of water and trees in varying seasons and light. Soothed by her seascapes, and beckoned by her compositions of paths in the woods, the viewer is enticed to take an enchanted journey into her paintings.

Dara paints from her home in Fairfield, CT where she and her husband raised their three daughters, and at the Studio of Leona Frank in Westport, CT, where she is immersed in a community of creative artists.  She has taken many classes and workshops at Silvermine School of Art, New Canaan, CT where she met her mentor, Phyllis Rutigliano. Dara received a BA from Wheaton College, Norton, MA and an MAT from Sacred Heart University, Fairfield.

Artist Statement
I have always viewed the world through an artist’s lens where color, mood and surroundings matter. As a young girl I aspired to be an artist. I believe we are all born artists; we simply express our creativity through different venues. What I love about art is how it brings people who have different perspectives together. A good painting offers a fresh view of our world.

I love painting in a series for in-depth exploration of a subject. In my seascapes I aim to express the captivating and varied moods and brilliant palettes of water in motion. My landscapes of trees and paths reflect my love of nature and my inner journey, a path that is filled with endless possibility.  I am intruiged by a trail leading towards light and am fascinated by the dramatic changes the seaons bring to New England trees and landscapes.  The interaction of light and trees turn mystery and darkness into beautifully enchanting light filled paths in the woods. I strive to capture their essence.
